Privacy Policy

MagicDrop moves files between your own iPhone and your own Mac. It is published by BetheApp. This policy explains what happens to your files and data when you use the MagicDrop apps for iPhone and Mac.
In short
- Your files go directly from one of your devices to the other. They never pass through our servers or anyone else's.
- We do not collect any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- Everything MagicDrop stores stays on your devices, and you can delete it at any time.
How files are sent
MagicDrop uses Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework to connect your iPhone and Mac over your local Wi‑Fi network or a direct peer-to-peer connection. The connection is encrypted. Before a new iPhone can connect, your Mac asks you to allow it.
Data we collect
None. MagicDrop does not send any information about you, your devices or your files to BetheApp or to any third party. The apps contain no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking software.
What stays on your devices
- Files you receive on iPhone are kept in the MagicDrop folder, which you can also see in the Files app under On My iPhone. Delete them in MagicDrop or in Files.
- Files you receive on Mac are saved on your Desktop, or in the Finder folder where you drop them.
- Device names and a random device identifier provided by iOS for MagicDrop are used only so your Mac can recognise an iPhone you have already allowed. Your Mac keeps that list of allowed iPhones locally.
Permissions
- Local Network (iPhone and Mac): to find your other device and send files to it.
- Photos (iPhone, only if you use "Send Latest Photo"): to read your most recent photo or screenshot when you ask to send it. Photos you add with the + button are chosen in Apple's photo picker, which needs no permission.
- Desktop folder (Mac): to save the files you send from your iPhone.
- Finder automation (Mac): to put a dropped file in the folder or at the place on the Desktop where you let go of it.
You can turn any of these off in Settings on iPhone or System Settings on Mac. MagicDrop keeps working and tells you what it needs.
Children
MagicDrop collects no data from anyone, including children.
